Hindi Movie: D (2005)

In Movies on February 16, 2009 at 8:12 pm

Cast: Randeep Hooda, Chunkey Pandey, Isha Koppikar, Yashpal Sharma, Sushant Singh, Goga Kapoor and others

Plot: Supposedly, the portrayal of early years of Dawood Ibrahim’s criminal career…
Review: Randeep Hooda (as Deshu) has acted very well, and does full justice to  the gangster image, and has portrayed the conflicts of a common man, who enters the underworld of Mumbai, sets a precedent in Organized Crime….and the power struggle between the new comer and the established mafia….Despite all attempts at re-creating the “Satya” or “Company” effect on the viewers, RGV (as producer) failed. Just another underworld movie. Nothing more.

Movie: The Invisible (2007)

In Uncategorized on February 16, 2009 at 8:05 pm

Cast: Justin Chatwin (as Nicholas Powell), Margarita Levieva (as Annie), and Marcia Gay Harden (as Diane Powell)

Plot: Brutally attacked and left for dead teenager, finds out that is hung in a limbo. He’s invisible to everyone, except for a very troubled girl, who was also his attacker.
Review: Pretty ordinary in terms of the plot. The acting by the two leading actors is good, but does no justice to their talent. Too many subplots, put together poorly.
Recommendation: 1.5 of 5

In Uncategorized on February 9, 2009 at 5:16 pm

Cast: Cillian Murphy, Padraic Delaney amongst others.

Plot: Story of early Irish revolution and it’s impact on two brothers who end up on separate sides of the revolution.
Review: A very compelling movie, set in 1920’s, really loved it. No wonder it was a winner of Palm D’or at Cannes. if you love war movies and associated drama, this is a good movie to watch.
Recommendation: Very good (4.5 of 5).

Hunting Party (2007)

In Uncategorized on February 9, 2009 at 5:06 pm

Cast: Richard Gere, Terence Howard, James Brolin amongst others.

Plot: A television journalist (Gere), his cameraman (Terence Howard) and their networks V.P.’s son embark on a journey to catch a war criminal from Bosnia-Serbia war.
Review: I really enjoyed seeing Richard Gere onscreen with a compelling storyline than Dance with Me….Terence Howard showed why he is already an Academy Award winner. The plot is interesting, the narration by Howard keeps the movie on track and interesting, at all times, with edge of the seat sequences.
Recommendation: Worth a Watch (3.5 of 5).
